Dick Kimball was my diving coach at the University of Michigan from 1975-1979. Kimball recruited me and has been a friend and mentor of mine since he "paid me a diving complement" at a Regional Diving Championships at the University of Wisconsin as a high school senior.
Kimball is an incredibly kind, motivating and innovative diving coach. He has changed so many individuals lives in such a positive way. He is one of the most popular, successful and storied divers and diving coaches of all times. Coach Kimball has conducted week long diving clinics and has been the honorary judge at the High Dive Champions diving meets annually since 2004.
As a tribute to Coach Kimball, High Dive Champions, holds the "Kimball Cup" age group diving championships every year. The Kimball Cup is intended to help promote the spirit of Kimball, which I believe are:
Enjoying the challenge & the greatness of the sport of diving
Positively influencing others
Learning to overcome adversity
Learning the rewards of hard work and commitment
Enjoying the humor and "fun with others" in life's endevours
